Template Selection

 

 

 

 

After you subscribe to MyAdTV you will choose a template and use it to create your digital signage ads.  Just log in to your User account and follow the easy User Guide instructions.  Please look below this text section to see our numerous templates.  For each template displayed below, there is:  a picture of a completed ad, a color annotated template layout, and our recommendations on how best to use this type of template.

Template Features
A template is an easy way to create attractive and effective ads.  A template organizes your ads.  Each template we provide is divided into different display areas called frames.  Frame sizes are shown below in percentages.  The actual pixel size of a frame depends on the resolution of the monitor used. Regardless of monitor resolution, content is automatically scaled to fit the frame. Each frame is named and color-coded.  The color tells you the type of media accepted and their potential applications.  The color key appears at the very bottom of this page.

Display Resolution
When preparing the content for the display, you do need to pay attention to the aspect ratio of your monitor. For example, if a frame size is 75% wide by 75% high and your monitor resolution is 1024 by 768, the ideal size of your image is 1024x75% wide and 768x75% high. Your image doesn't need to be the extra size as the frame, but it should have the correct width to height ratio (aspect ratio). If the aspect ratio of your image deviates too much from the aspect ratio of the frame, you will see a distorted image, such as a circle will look like an ellipse. If you don't know the resolution of your monitor, in general, you can expect your monitor resolution to be 1024x768 for regular monitors and 1280x720 for HDTV monitors.

Creating Advertising Content
Once you select your template, you can use
MyAdPlayer to create the content to display. The User Guide will give you step-by-step instructions to compose dynamic content from still images and type-in text.  We provide you images to practice with but you can create your own images with a digital camera or buy professional or stock photos.  We recommend dreamstime.com and istockphoto.com, most professional quality photos cost $1 and you can download them directly from their web site.  We enable you to upload your flash animations or digital movies as well.  MyAdPlayer supports swf, mpeg and wmv formats.

Planning Your Advertising Content
According to 'The Arbitron Retail Media Study Volume II', shoppers are extremely receptive to retail ads with nearly 30% of retail ads viewers making unplanned purchase. Consumers are primarily interested in store sales, product information, and special events.  They are very susceptible to suggestions while they are in the store, even though they are not consciously seeking information.  You can make an impact if you show an ad that gets your point across in two seconds while shoppers are glancing through the signage screen.

The 2 Seconds Rule
Make your ads crisp and to the point.  You only have a few seconds to capture a shopper's fleeting attention. We highly recommend using single frame format where you can display big ads with large text. Adding news in RSS format at the bottom of the screen sometimes retain viewers' attention.

Avoid ad screens with: too much information, multiple frames, or moving images.  They make it difficult for customers to get your message.

Recommendations:

  • Information such as events and schedules can be displayed in the main frame. Updates can be made from remote computers 
  • The side frame can be used to promote in-house services or third party ads
  • Main Frame can be set to alternate between announcements and ads, maximizing the utility of the space

  • Create repeat business by displaying specialties, desserts and drinks. Restaurants sell more items and encourage customers to come back and try other dishes

Recommendations:

  • Real estate agents, medical facilities, company lobbies, etc. can place their logos on the side frames and use the main frames for message board, product and service information and third party ads
